"THA REAPAZ" Representing Philly

Since I have started this blog it has been very interesting to meet so many artists from different regions of the states and each with a unique kind of story.  This group you will find has a distinct sound like no other they talked with me to share some of their personal life ambitions and took me through a journey of how they got started in the music industry.
This group known as Tha Reapaz right out of  Philadelphia has been in the music industry for about a year and a half.  When asked” Where they got their name from? They simply answered “wanting to take the game over”. Tha Reapaz consist of two male friends who even though they have been together musically for a year and a half maintained a personal friendship for over eighteen years.  Their music is far from basic it shows aggressiveness, lots of energy and portrays a deep message of what’s going on in their lives. Tha Reapaz describes their music under the genre of rap, hip-hop, and rock.
They have started a huge fan base at home which they not only just do performances and make music but also support other artists from Philadelphia as well. One of their biggest show performances was the Biggie tribute in New York City.  The concept of their music is based on the emotion that one can feel, also if you ever get the opportunity to watch this group perform you will experience that emotion portrayed on stage. When I asked them how the economy has affected them with sales, they replied “The economy can’t affect us as long as we are working”. Even though the economy has affected the industry as a whole they continue to stand beside it not letting that detour them from making music.
The advice that they have for the youth today is “Continue to stay in school have a business plan, Family is important, be mindful of who your friends are, life is about how we get back up after we have fallen and how we deal with it and how we can become a better person and stay motivated.
Tha Reapaz musical influences come from a variety of artists and different genres of music. They both are involved in the writing process of their music starting with an idea and collaborating that idea together to make a masterpiece. The image of their songs are energetic and strong. The most favorable song that they like to perform is a song called “Suicide Rhymers” that can sometimes bring out an aggressive edge to it.  One of their goals five years from now is to be performing at the Grammy’s and possibly win one as well.
Tha Reapaz also shared with me one of their most embarrassing moments when they knocked a hole in a venue wall while knocking over an elderly person while performing on stage. Having experienced some stalker type fans with weird phone calls, but none of this stops them from continuing to perform for their fans.
Definitely be on the lookout for this energetic group that has no fear but has awareness and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Want their music to be known for change and influence and to show the world that hard work really does pay off. Also working on an album “Welcome to the Nightmare” that their fans can expect to be out soon.
